About the Creative Team
Streetlight is the creation of composer–lyricist Josie DeStefano and co-writer John DeStefano, a husband-and-wife team whose collaboration began in 1996. The idea for the musical first took shape when their eldest daughter, Gina, was cast in the national premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down the Wind, which rehearsed in New York City and opened in Washington, D.C.
During that time, Josie a suburban mother, pianist, and songwriter was profoundly inspired by the streets of New York and the reality of homelessness she witnessed there. The experience planted the first seeds of Streetlight, a story about compassion, resilience, and human connection.
After pausing their creative pursuits to raise their children Gina, John, and Jackie, the DeStefano family has now united their talents to bring Streetlight to life for today’s audiences. With the support of their ever-growing family, they are thrilled to finally share this long-awaited project with the world.
